About Kirra Surfstock Festival

Kirra Surfstock Festival originated last year, 40 years after Woodstock created history.

Kirra Surfstock Festival is a non profit community based project that celebrates the surfing culture and other beach events while raising awareness of coastal management. Its first two events were the 2009 Australia Day paddle out attracting over 4000 concerned people to paddle out Kirra on surfboards. Its next event was the inaugural Kirra Surfstock Festival which had a variety of activities over 3 days in November 2009.

A family friendly event the festival is designed to increase visitation to the Southern Gold Coast and to encourage sustainable living habits through a number of beach lifestyle events ranging from surfing to bikini parades, from beach soccer to music.

Queensland Events, Gold coast City Council and Connecting Southern Gold Coast have all committed to this years festival and this year we will stage a multi sport, cultural and music festival at Kirra on November 12, 13 & 14, 2010.

Activities include two days of markets, free music, and beach activities including an attempt on the Guinness World Record for the most number of surfers riding one wave, Jnr Team surfing, Stand Up Paddle racing, Surfboats, Beach Walking, Beach Soccer, Beach Volley Ball and Beach Rugby. There is no charge for the community to enjoy the live music, the markets and all the other activities the Kirra Surfstock Festival has to offer.
