Adam Scriven

With sweeping lap-slide guitar licks, lively rhythms and upbeat vocal styles, Adam Scriven’s impressive mix of blues, folk and roots is captivating audiences along Australia’s East Coast. Incorporating intricate finger picking, virtuoso and percussive guitar techniques, yidaki (didgeridoo), harmonica, an infectious stomp and conscious lyrics, Adam’s songs are inspired by a deep connection and love for this beautiful land and country he is now privileged to call home.

Adam hails from the South West of England and it wasn’t until the age of 21 whilst travelling that he began his musical journey. Playing Djembe by light of campfire around Australia introduced Adam to the Yidaki (didgeridoo). With a deep feel for the importance of rhythm, Adam began to blend these instruments and soon after picked up a guitar with a passion and drive to express himself through melody and word. While living in Brisbane in 2008, Adam progressed into the independent music scene, playing support for many local bands as well as performing solo at venues and events such as the Brisbane and Zillmere Multi-Cultural festivals, Fret Fest and the Woodford Folk Festival. In the same year Adam claimed second place in the Brisbane Valley buskers competition.

The following year proved to be a challenging one, spent mostly on the road with trips to Europe and back to North Queensland, always with his guitar within reach and no plan but to keep moving forward. A constant flow of new material has kept Adam’s passion for music alive.

His songs relate to his travel experience and philosophical approach to the challenges of life. Coming back to live on the Sunshine coast in 2010, Adam is continually inspired by the wealth of local talent in the region and is back on stage playing alongside the music he loves. His most recent performances include the Hervey Bay Whale Festival, Malfunction Surf Festival and Club Envy (Maroochydore).
