Jack and the Giant Killers
Since 2006, Jack and the Giant Killers have been delivering high energy acoustic rock shows to fans of real music.
They’ve played highlight gigs at major events such as the Woodfood Folk Festival (2008-2009) and the Island Vibe Festival (2008) through to earthy Sunday afternoon ‘good vibe sessions’ at your local pub. For Jack and the Giant Killers it’s all about the vibe. Good vibes = happy audiences = cracking gigs.
The Giant Killers are an amazing collective of musical talent with members including:
- Marcello Milani – Guitar – Toothfaeries, Afro Dizzy Act, Tibet2Timbuk2 (Qsong award winner 2008) and many other awesome solo and world music projects
- Tony McCall – Drums – Resin Dogs, Final Days of Autumn, Mary Trembles, Hung and many more
- Dave Atkins- Drums- Pangea, Toothfiares, Resin Dogs, Wolf Mother- Musical Direction- Production and more
- Mark Headey – Bass – Soul Stealer, Andora, Expedestrian, and Lush.
And of course – Jack Vaney – the charismatic frontman who binds them together. Jack’s attacking acoustic style sets the tone for these lively lads. His role as chief song writer and creative director sees the band swing somewhere between rock, ska, and rock-folk – party music at it’s finest!
Jack and the Giant Killers teamed up with Brisbane musical maestro Dave Atkins (Resin Dogs, Wolfmother) to begin production on their debut album – Grow Your Mind. Dave was so impressed by the quality and passion the Giant Killers bring to their music that he joined the group on drums for a stint in 2008-2010
Some amazing live shows in 2009 put the Giant Killers on the radar of several Australian music taste makers and helped them receive solid airplay on JJJ’s Roots and All program and Brisbane’s 4ZZZ.
Stay tuned for the Grow Your Mind Tour later in 2010 - kicking up a storm at some great venues in regional Queensland and NSW and finishing up with dates in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
